OLD
Lucia Harrison and Jan Dove designed and produced the artist book "OLD" in the form of a vovelle with a wrapper. "The word vovelle comes from the Latin verb volvere, which means to turn. For more than 800 years, designers and paper engineers have included vovelles within books to educate and entertain readers." (https//library.si.edu/vovelles)
The vovelle features a beautiful photograph by Jane Shelly Richardson of the Great Basin Bristlecone Pine, one of the oldest living things on the planet. It has two turnable wheels -- one -- the names reveals interesting names for old women: grizzled, vintage, over the hill, a grandam, etc. The second wheel reveals definitions like 'you know you are "over the hill" when you "look in the mirror and see your mother."
