Jan Dove and Lucia Harrison created this volvelle and essay to spark conversations about what it means to be women artists growing older with humor, grace, and a circular vision of time.

The vovelle presents the often humorous side of growing old, like "you find yourself in the grocery store in your slippers."

The essay is more serious, exploring how four women artists in their 70s thought about becoming old lady artists as they sat around a campfire at the Hoh Rain Forest. We are often told that we see time as linear, we must set goals and a timeline, but as you get older, your fear of "time running out" can take a toll. So the essay examines the idea of circular time in the lives of older women artists.
