At low tide, mudflats tower over McLane Creek that flows into Eld Inlet at Mud Bay. This was the site of the village of Squaya':iL. On the day Lucia kayaked up the creek an osprey eyed a female Mallard who zigzagged across the creek, a decoy for her tiny flock that hid under an overhanging bank.
